Submit/Edit an Event

This Help - Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) item provides guidance on submitting and editing your Club Event information. The Event is the place to show all the information about your event that is not already shown in the Venue information (which is already appended to all the events that use that venue). Note that a recurring event such as a regular weekly session or a multi-week special event or set of lessons is a single "repeating" event, rather than a sequence of separate events.

To submit an event all you need is to:

  • Be registered as a suitably authorised contributor on the website - the  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. will do this when you are nominated by your bridge club
  • Login to the site (using the Login/Logout link on the Home menu (top left)
  • Click on the Submit an Event link in the Home menu
  • Enter the event's Title (not too long please)
  • Select the event's Venue by clicking on the Select button
  • Enter the event's Date by selecting the Calendar icon (leave the EndDate field empty)
  • Enter the event's Start and End Time using hh:mm format (eg 09:30, 19:15)
  • Choose the desired Repetition options - A. for a single session event leave unchanged, B. for a regular weekly session change to weekly, C. for a multi-week event, change to weekly and select the appropriate end date 
  • Do not add a picture - as it interrupts the event listings
  • Put all the remaining event information in the Description field - but there is no need to repeat the time and date or the venue information
  • Click on the Save button
  • Check that the event displays as intended under the appropriate venue - and correct any anomalies
To edit an existing event, find and click on the event to display the event details, and then click on the Edit Event icon next to the Event title towards the top of the displayed event. Then edit as above.
 
There is undoubtedly a learning curve with maintaining events, but not a difficult one, and once done the event appears appropriately in the various event displays by day, by event type, by club etc. It is worth it!
